2. I have however doubts as to the

operation of the provisions for the

attainment of equality of sacrifice as

between sterling and dollar salaries. In

this connection I would draw attention to

the considerable disparity between the

exemption limit of £240 for officers in

receipt of sterling salaries and $240

for those on dollar salaries. I shall be
